Asthma Clinic Receives “Parnership Award”

June 5th, 2005

The Dean/St. Marys Neighborhood Asthma Clinic recently received the “Partnership Award” presented at the City-County Public Health Awards Ceremony on April 4, 2005.

Madison and Dane County Public Health Departments honored the Neighborhood Asthma Clinic for enhancing public health services and positively impacting the community.

Since 1996, the clinic has helped break down the barriers facing Madison’s low income communities by providing quality screening, diagnosis, education and treatment of asthma. The clinic also gives volunteer health care providers the opportunity to develop better diagnostic and treatment patterns for asthma. Nurse Practitioner Lynne Edebohls coordinates dozens of Dean Health System physicians, staff and other volunteers who give their time to serve patients at the Neighborhood Asthma Clinic.

Along with tens of thousands of dollars of in kind professional care provided by Dean physicians, pharmaceutical manufacturers donate needed medications to patients. The Neighborhood Asthma Clinic is open every Tuesday from 5-7 pm. It is located at 4633D Madison Plaza (behind the Walgreens off Verona Road). For more information call (608) 446-3344.

The Public Health Awards recognize individuals, businesses and organizations that enhance Madison and Dane County public health programs through advocacy, outreach, education or direct service.
