Stop and Seat
Dean Foundation and the Middleton Police Department have teamed up to launch the Stop and Seat program to help ensure that every child riding in a car is riding safe and abiding by Wisconsin’s child passenger safety laws.

Previously, violators who did not have their children properly restrained would receive a ticket and be allowed to drive off. The Stop and Seat program allows a Middleton Police officer to provide an appropriate “loaner” child passenger or booster seat. The offender will receive a warning ticket for the violation and be given ten days to:
- Purchase a child passenger restraint
- Enroll in Dean Foundation’s Every Ride a Safe Ride Program and rent a seat for $5 for six months.
The Stop and Seat Program is a one-year pilot program that runs through June 2009. At the end of one year, Dean Foundation and the Middleton Police Department will evaluate its cost and effectiveness. If successful, we hope to expand the program throughout Dane County with help from more local businesses.
